Winter SOCIAL MIXER: RU Connected?
Alums met to celebrate the victory of this year's Rutgers football team with fellow alums in the Rutgers Club of SoCal.
For the past almost 3 years, RU alums and friends have been meeting quarterly in Beverly Hills or Hollywood to
interact with other Rutgers alumni that live and work in SoCal. The casual atmosphere makes it easy to come after
work. And even if you can’t come exactly at 7:00 pm, it doesn’t matter because we’ll be there– show up whenever
you can. There are give-aways and the delicious Scarlet Knight cocktail will be mixed and served to the RU alumni at
the bar! This time we went back to the famous Roosevelt Hotel.

Visit the newly re-opened Griffith Park Observatory. Meet at Hollywood & Highland to take the bus to the
Observatory.
Griffith Observatory's unique architecture and setting, compelling programmatic offerings, and cinematic exposure have made it one of the most famous
and visited landmarks in southern California. Tens of millions have come to walk the inside of the building, view the live planetarium shows, or simply gaze
out towards the coast and the heavens. This cultural and scientific icon owes its existence to the dream of one man, Griffith Jenkins Griffith, and to the
dedicated scientists and public servants who worked to fulfill his vision of making astronomy and observation accessible to all.
We will meet at 9:45 a.m. in Hollywood, and alight the shuttle bus to the Griffith Observatory. Afterward, we will have lunch at a local Hollywood eatery.
(Lunch costs are not included)

This was a great opportunity to see our fine young actors strut their stuff. The event is followed by a reception. This
was the third time MGSA has sent their grads to LA to showcase their talents for the local talent scouts. We're so
fortunate to have them offer our club access to see them.

Over 70 alums and family/friends turned-out for the annual brunch with special guest speaker, Matt Golombek, RC
'76, and project scientist for the Mars Pathfinder Mission at JPL. We were so lucky to him him speak of the on-going

As you know 30 tickets have already been sold for the great musical hit WICKED on Sunday, October 14 at 6:30 p.m. There have been so many requests for
more tickets to the show that Lana has arranged for 30 more tickets, 15 in the center orchestra (X & Y), 12 tickets on either side of the orchestra (Row T-V on
the inside aisle) and 6 tickets in the mezzanine (Row D). All are great seats. The costs of the seats (listed below) include a $5.00 donation to Rutgers Club of
SoCal Endowment. Just think how much you would spend with Ticketmaster, so this is a wonderful deal for a wonderful show.
